Sometimes you just want to drop into a match, scavenge some gear, and blast some rogue machines without your entire friends list jumping into your party. Whether you are trying to solo-queue in peace or simply do not feel like being social tonight, flying under the radar is a completely valid way to play.

If you have been digging through the in-game settings looking for a simple stealth toggle, you can stop searching. ARC Raiders currently lacks a native, built-in "Appear Offline" switch within its own menus. To go invisible, you have to use a quick workaround by adjusting your console's network profile settings directly from the Xbox dashboard.

Step-by-Step Xbox Dashboard Method

Since the game pulls your initial online status straight from your console network profile, changing your settings at the hardware level will do the trick. Here is exactly how to set it up:

  1. Press the Xbox button on your controller to open up the Guide menu.
  2. Navigate all the way to the far right tab to highlight Profile & system.
  3. Click on your Profile picture at the very top.
  4. Scroll down a bit and select My profile.
  5. Look near the bottom of the page and select the Appear online drop-down menu.
  6. Switch your status to Appear offline.

Important Cross-Play Limitations

While the dashboard trick works smoothly for the most part, ARC Raiders relies on an independent Embark ID system to manage its cross-play functionality. This unique setup introduces a couple of privacy blind spots that you should keep in mind before you assume you are completely invisible.

  • Xbox Friends: This method is flawless for your regular Xbox friends. Once you change your status on the dashboard, you will show up as completely offline both on the console networks and on the in-game ARC Raiders roster for anyone playing on an Xbox Series X or S. They won't see you online at all.
  • Cross-Play Friends (PC/PS5): Cross-platform buddies are a different story. If you have added friends from PC or PlayStation 5 directly through their Embark IDs inside the game, changing your Xbox console status might not completely hide you from them. The independent Embark system often bypasses the console's privacy filters, meaning cross-platform friends might still spot you as active on the cross-play social tab.
  • The In-Game Tell: Keep an eye out for a known in-game quirk. There is a common bug or feature where the social tab will display a status like "Offline 3 minutes" right next to your name while you are actively sitting inside a raid lobby. If your friends know how the UI behaves, this highly specific timestamp can give away the fact that you are actually online and playing right that second. If you really need absolute privacy, your best bet is to tread carefully when managing your cross-play connections.
